  • Internet Classics Archive  Collection of over 400 searchable Greek and Roman texts in English translation. Also includes a few ancient Chinese and Persian works.


  • Literary Resources on the Net Annotated list of scholarly links, organized by time period from classical through 20th century, including theater and drama, ethnicities, women and feminism.


  • Norton Anthology of American Literature  Directed at students, offers biographical and bibliographic information on 120 authors, including indigenous peoples. Timelines for seven time periods lists titles in their historical contexts.


  • IPL Literary Criticism Collection Over 2000 critical and biographical websites about authors and their works, easily browsed by author, title, nationality, and literary period.


  • Project Gutenberg The site offers literary and other materials full-text for reading or downloading; the latter may require some time to effect. An ever-growing source of documents, self-described as being either light literature, heavy literature or reference work, and has enormous potential, Gutenberg plans to have over 10,000 books available electronically.


  • Ethnologue This standard directory of languages of the world serves programs in linguistics, anthropology, geography or area studies.


  • iLoveLanguages. A comprehensive catalog of language-related Internet resources with more than 2400 links to online language lessons, translating dictionaries, native literature, translation services, software, language schools, etc.  Formerly known as The Human-Languages Page .


  • Storyteller: Native American authors online This site provides a straightforward list of Web pages for many contemporary Native American authors and is one of the best sites for Native American literature.

  • The complete works of William Shakespeare Calling itself "the Web's first edition of the Complete Works of William Shakespeare ," it also offers a searchable concordance and links to other Shakespeare resources on the Internet which take the user to texts, courses, secondary materials and film festivals.
  • LitLinks This site, from Bedford/St. Martin's Press, offers suggested links to information on poetry, plays, short stories, and critical articles. The site is organized by genre.

 

  • Turning the Pages This project features access to 15 digitized book from the British Library, including works by William Blake and Leonardo da Vinci. This site captures the real look of the book including the cover. It includes general background notes on the books.
